In drawing class our teacher asked us to illustrate a surrealist tale called “o menino e o caixote” (the boy and the box), the story was about a kid who wanted to have a lion, but his dad wouldn’t let him, instead he could have a pretty cat. The boy, started searching around the house for a lion and found this card box in the kitchen (the boy saw it as a lion), while the boy was playing with his “lion” his dad walked into the room and asked “What are you doing with that card box?” and the boy said “Lion, kill the old man!”. The lion riped the dad’s head off. Our teacher said he wanted us to understand that we could illustrate the tale without dawing lions, boys or card boxes, remember the is a surrealist tale, it’s not literal. This was what i came up with.
